I will start this topic off with me. I have been running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 for a few months now. And I have to say I love it. Currently I am running it on a laptop with 3gb of ram and it runs smooth. I am also running the 32bit version on a PC using it as a Media Center.

So far I have one complaint with Medai Center and that you can't queue up video's toplay. I mean really how hard is it to put a queue option? They could take it to the next level and add an entire Playing Next Section so you can see what the next video is.

Also Movies and Videos are 2 different things. Movies They consider dvd's and videos is anythng in a avi,mpg format just so you know.

outside of that I really like it. I am getting ready to replace Vista 64 on my Main PC most likley tonight. I still need to create a WDS Image for it so I can install it over my network so I may wait until Tuesday when i am off.

Well I have Windows 7 64bit Ultimate Installed now on my Desktop and I just installed RSAT which is Remote Server Administration Tools and so far all is good. I havent had a chance to test them all yet but I know the AD Users and Computers works which is a really important one.

I will say this I also dislike how in the taskbar the icon are so far apart. I looks almost like you should be able to put a icon in between them.

Windows 7 Home premium upgrade


Right now my biggest issue is that vista shut down for hibernate faster. Vista was also more colorful. I only ran vista for about a month, not even that really. So far there was a problem with COD4 not starting pnkbstrb.exe and I had to try a few things. I deleted both the a nd b .exe files from the windows/wow64 folder, and reinstalled PB. That last deal I tried was running the svc program from the pbcountermeasure web site. I also had to adjust my firewall to let the program play at home as well as for the public. Not sure why that changed, or maybe it is a new easier to read option. The errors I got were no punkbuster b init, and packet loss. Left 4 Dead worked good. Goofy me forgot to turn my headphones back on and thought my sound was out for 45 minutes. It took a little over 2 hours to upgrade from vista.

Seven do you know if there still is the gb loss on the HD that vista had come over with 7? A lot of it came from restore files in vista.

There is a GB loss with 7 not as bad as Vista, cleanup disk works to check that. Nostromo has bugs when the pc goes into hibernate. You pretty much have to shut it down and restart. I have not checked for newer drivers since I installed 7. Might be time to check that out.

Did you upgrade or do a Clean Install?

Unfortunately it was a free upgrade. That might be the reason?

I personally am not a big fan of upgrading from one O/S to another. To many issues can come up. It always best to do a fresh install if possible. The only time I say to upgrade is if there is important software that cant be found then I say upgrade.

My cheap ass got it free with the pc when I bought my rig. I might invest in it soon though.
